If you’re managing IT for a 50–500 person company and you need a rackmount UPS in the 1000–3000VA range, CyberPower is probably your best bet. I’ve ordered over 60 UPS units across three office locations since 2020, and after comparing every major brand side by side, the CyberPower lineup consistently delivers better value than APC or Tripp Lite for the same rated power. How I Ended Up Testing Them All

One more thing: If you’re looking at APC rackmount UPS because you think you need seamless integration with existing APC accessories—check compatibility first. CyberPower uses standard IEC and NEMA outlets, and their rackmount rails fit standard 19" racks without issue. I’ve mixed APC and CyberPower units in the same rack without drama.
Practical Tips from Six Years of Ordering
- For the 500VA/300W 1U models: Great for switches, routers, and small PoE injectors. Do not try to run a server on it—stick with at least 1500VA for a single rack server.
- Manuals: The PDF guides on CyberPower’s site are searchable and actually accurate. I downloaded the manual for the OR1500LCDRM1U and it had wiring diagrams for both standalone and daisy-chain setups.
- Battery replacement: The batteries are standard RBC-type. I swapped a dead battery on a 3-year-old unit in 5 minutes—just remove the front bezel, unplug, slide in new one.
- Don’t over-spec: A 2200VA unit is overkill for most single-rack setups unless you have dual high-wattage servers. Our rule of thumb: sum the real wattage of all connected devices and add 20% headroom. CyberPower’s LCD makes checking load trivial.
